Brian McDonald, was recently voted to serve as interim superintendent of the Pasadena, California Unified School District Board of Education. McDonald, who holds a master’s degree in education administration from Texas Southern University, previously served as the school improvement officer in the Houston Independent School District and an elementary and middle school principal for six years. Since coming to the district as chief academic officer in 2011, MacDonald, who speaks Spanish fluently, has overseen the implementation of the new Common Core State Standards. He has also led the district’s magnet school program and expanded the district’s dual-language immersion programs.
